AHMEDABAD: The Sixth Convocation Ceremony of SKIPS took place on SKIPS Lawn on April 2nd, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. J.N. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Gujarat.
The convocation began with the lighting of the lamp and the invocation ceremony. The convocation was declared open by the Chairman, Sh. Vaibhav Tandon. After that, he extended his warm welcome to all the dignitaries present. He shared his optimism about India being a bright spot among all emerging markets and wished the students a bright future.
The speech was followed by the conferring of trophies on the graduating students by the Chief Guest, Dr. Singh, and the Chairman, Sh. Vaibhav Tandon. The graduating batch of PGDM was watched by their proud parents, friends, and relatives from the sea of audience members who turned out for the event. The scholastic medals were awarded to students for achieving academic excellence, which captured the essence of fond memories for the outgoing batch of students.
This was followed by the convocation address by the Chief Guest, Dr. J.N. Singh. Dr. Singh began his speech by congratulating the young graduates on this auspicious occasion. Recognizing the global economic headwinds and the recent international political developments in countries like Iraq, Syria, and so-called Islamic states, he mentioned that the global scenario is not that great. But he shared his vision that amidst this gloomy landscape, India stands out with its stable natural economy. With the digital revolution and e-commerce space, he believes India to be a moonshot nation.
The Chief Guest reminded the graduates in his address that they are the torchbearers in the transformative India with its booming service sector, startup age, and strengthened culture of entrepreneurship. He concluded by reciting the Sanskrit hymns and added that students should take initiative, speak the truth, not refrain from study, and do righteous actions. His speech was greeted by loud applause from the gathering.
The Chairman presented a momento to Dr. Singh, which was followed by the concluding address by Dr. Ram Kumar Balyan, Director SKIPS. Thereafter, Dr. Gurpreet Arora, Dean SKIPS, gave the vote of thanks to everyone present in the ceremony.
The convocation was declared closed by the Chairman. After the National Anthem, the convocation procession proceeded to return. The starlit night will forever be remembered in the hearts of the SKIPS family, where students passed out with flying colors.
