Operations management is one of the most central and integral parts to any company. The most important thing that any organization would need is to be able to convert the inputs to the company, efficiently and successfully into the final service or product; and it takes for a hardcore operations management department, and a brilliant operations manager to do just that.

 

So, here are some of the roles that an operations management student, after getting their degree from one of the top MBA colleges could go for:

Supply Chain Manager
Wherever there is a supply chain in a company, there have to roles like those of buyers, and purchasing agents, and purchasing managers involved. And it is these individuals who find the prospective clients who would sell them their products for the lowest price. These people have to have knowledge about the product, its quality, the suppliers, and every other factor that would have an effect on the selling and buying of the final product of their company.

Logistics Manager
An operations manager in the field of logistics would be working with various departments that handle purchasing, marketing, etc. and be further responsible to maintaining supply chains in a cost-effective manner, and develop efficient strategies for distribution.
Consultant
An operations manager, as a consultant, would either work with the various logistical as well as supply chain  management aspects of a company, or bring in IT and strategic planning to employ the operational changes they see deeming for for the organization.

Inventory Control Manager
Minimizing costs is one of the topmost priorities of any organization – big or small – but never at the cost of disappointing customers, that is.
