BACKGROUND TO THE LISTING OF STARTUPS
The speaker initiated the talk by raising the concern that Indian Companies were going abroad for getting them listed in foreign stock exchanges such as NASDAQ. To stop this, SEBI on 23rd June 2015 came up with the guidelines for the startups.
With respect to startups the speaker presented the information and aligned it to the Entrepreneurship Era which was classified in to four periods starting from (1) British Era till Independence, (2) Year 1947 to 1991, (3) Year 1991 to 2014 and (4) Year 2014 onwards.
Further the speaker presented the insights about the different phases in the life cycle of the company followed by the journey from startup to the listed company. He also explained about the different stages in life of the startup and also the traits of the entrepreneur which are required for the startups.
LISTING OF THE STARTUPS
The speaker made the audience aware about the listing guidelines given in FM budget speech in the year 2013. He stressed upon the two platforms available for listing viz existing platform and institutional trading platform. He opined that the listing process was cumbersome and the guidelines were too stringent for budding entrepreneurs who wanted their business domain or companies to be recognised at the stock exchange.
The new guidelines given by SEBI on 23rd June 2015 with respect to grown up startups was explained by the speaker. He also said that the new listing norms had very less no. of clauses and conditions to be observed for getting the company listed even without raising money through initial public offering.
The presentation was followed by the Question and Answer Session and lastly Mr. Ashish Goyal from NSE shared the information of how to get your company listed on NSE platform within the period of 30 days after adhering to all the compliances of SEBI and Company Law with regards to Listing Requirements.
